Indy Chamber Council Descriptions

Local Government & Fiscal Policy Council: Responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing policy positions on issues pertaining to local and state government structural and financing issues that affect economic development in the Indianapolis region.

Transportation, Infrastructure & Environment (TIE) Council: Responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing policy positions on issues pertaining to all modes of transportation, public utilities infrastructure and environmental initiatives and regulations.

Education/Workforce Council: Responsible for researching, analyzing, and developing policy positions on issues pertaining to K-12 education, higher education/adult education, emerging and incumbent workforce development, ex- offender re-entry, drop-out prevention and educational reform and funding. Provides support to Indy Chamber members and business-education partnerships by developing and supporting public policy and by facilitating a system that coordinates efforts that are working to increase the number of qualified, educated candidates in the region’s workforce.

Health Policy Council: The Council guides the development of health policy strategy for the Chamber’s legislative agenda, civic engagement, and helps to coordinate ongoing Central Indiana social determinants of health efforts.

Business Equity for Indy Council: Business Equity for Indy (BEI) is a joint venture of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) and Indy Chamber, in collaboration with the Indianapolis Urban League. BEI is comprised of Indianapolis-based corporate leaders committed to advancing a fairer and more inclusive future for the region’s Black population and other people of color.

Central Indiana Women’s Business Center (CIWBC) Council: The CIWBC Council oversees the deployment of small business services to women and men – many in disadvantaged neighborhoods. The CIWBC Council also manages the Women in Business quarterly events and Retreat.

Hispanic Business Council (HBC): The mission of the HBC is to provide leadership for the successful creation, retention, growth, and development of Hispanic businesses in the Indianapolis region.

Membership Council: The Membership Council oversees, reports on, and approves changes to dues, affinity program and event revenue streams for the Indy Chamber.

Chamber Ambassadors: Chamber Ambassadors is an elite volunteer committee of the Indy Chamber. Chamber Ambassadors are responsible for both behind the scenes support tasks at Indy Chamber events and spearheading key member relations initiatives. This group is made up of dynamic, community-minded professionals who wish to increase their time commitment and visibility in the business sector.
